AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT

Comment There was little change in the market this week with most market indicators showing only minor adjustments. What’s most notable each week is that for the general Chinese best fleece quality (16.5 to 21.5 micron), the Sydney market continues to outperform similar types offered in Melbourne. No doubt it’s a supply and demand scenario […]

AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT

Comment The most significant improvement in the market this week came via increased competition from Italian interests on the best wools 18.0 micron and finer. In commercial quantities, the most important microns are 16.0 to 18.0 micron, and we had these wools up to 2.6% dearer over the week. It was encouraging to see stronger […]

AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT

Comment The was not a lot of movement in the market this week. Overall, just a slight softening of prices, on average. The better European specification types were again selling better than the standard Chinese types. The exception being those wools carrying more VM, they are still in better demand for Chinse mills. For this […]

EASTERN AUSTRALIAN MARKET REPORT

COMMENT. Not much change on average. Good quality certified types from 14.0 to 31 micron are selling well.   FLEECE 18.0 micron and finer fully firm. 18.5 / 21.0 micron ex Sydney unchanged, ex Melbourne slightly easier due to higher volume of predominantly Chinese specification.  SKIRTINGS Generally firm for good types. OPEN TOP Unchanged.

AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT

Comment Currency exchange rate variations following the recent US federal election have had a strong influence on the market this week. The Australian dollar was lower against the Greenback. All types traded at around 1% to 1.5% dearer over the week with the exception of the small and varied offering sub 15.0 micron. These types […]

AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT

Comment There was not a lot of change in the market this week, but it was certainly accentuated by movements in the value of currencies following the US Federal election. Tuesday, with Sydney selling in isolation, showed some modest gains across the board in a small and varied offering. Not a lot of change followed […]
