AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT
Comment
Better merino wools, while in small supply, continue to sell well in comparison to the general market. Prices fell on Tuesday by around 1 to 1.5% on average, but we felt that the market was much better on Wednesday than what has been reported. Prices opened unchanged on Wednesday and rallied to the highest point of the day in the last hour of sale. The general tendency is for a cheaper market, however the small supply is still helping to limit any significant downward trend.

Forecast
While the general Chinese market is certainly less interested at the moment with confidence falling since reaching the peak a few weeks ago, there will be others that will see this as an opportunity. Nothing other than timing for shipment and delivery requirements has changed and certainly the supply concerns will re-emerge as the season kicks into gear after the mid year recess.
