Summary

Market generally eases.

Comment

Combined North and South Island National Sale offering 9,700 bales.

Selection consisted of 34% crossbred fleece, mainly good colour, 32% crossbred hogget and second shear, good colour, 10% halfbred fleece good colour, 7% merino fleece good colour and 17% associated oddments.

A full bench of buyers including a good Australian representation focusing on the fine wool selection noted some spirited bidding with the super style wools keenly sought after. Mid-micron halfbreds attracted less interest and fell back to buyers favour. Crossbred fleece and shears posted a notable negative movement on the back of some general gains over the last two weeks.

Fleece

Crossbred fleece good colour up to 5% cheaper.

Crossbred fleece average colour 1.5% cheaper.

Crossbred hoggets good colour up to 6% cheaper.

Merino fleece very erratic and generally buyers favour except super styles which were 4% dearer.

Fine halfbred fleece buyers favour.

Shears

Crossbred shears good colour up to 6% cheaper.

Oddments

Clothing oddments good/average style up to 6% cheaper.

Clothing oddments poor style up to 5% cheaper.

Combing oddments up to 3% cheaper.

Passings

35% passed in.
