AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT
Comment
The various markets are offering variable wool types. The selection in Sydney is primarily 19.5 micron and finer, high yield and with a reasonable supply of spinner style with good specification. These clips, especially when certified to a QA program like RWS or Authentico, are selling at levels well above the market averages. And, so they should be. The Melbourne offering has selected pockets of stylish and certified fine wool, but the overwhelming majority of the offering is long staple length and 19.5 micron and broader. Just the wool types that are not selling that well at the moment and this is impacting on the general market mood. Despite this, the best fine wool continues to be well sought after. Skirting wools are still in keen demand for knitting types, especially the better prepared skirtings with low VM.
