AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT – The Schneider Group

The general market sentiment was soft but it was very clear that good fine wool from 15.0 micron to 18.0 micron, especially those clips that are certified and traceable, was dearer. Selected clips were extreme and it was very encouraging to see that buyers are again selective for style as well as specification. The more average types, in larger supply, were easier over the week as the Chinese market steadies before the annual wool conference. But it’s the relatively small supply of good fine wool that is certainly attracting the most attention and this is very encouraging. The Authentico Indicator is now at 2942, the highest level in recent months and primarily a factor of the continuing demand for certified, high quality, superfine wool of 14.5 to 18.0 micron.

We’re encouraged to see more and more enquiry for fully traceable wool and Authentico wool tops from the Schneider Group are European made and fully traceable providing assurance to our clients for best animal welfare practice, environmental stewardship and social responsibility. Production through our own European based certified mills guarantees the full traceability requested by our customers.

There are mixed messages coming from China at this time but should become clearer prior to the auction next week.
