AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT
Comment
The wool market finished the week in positive territory following an excellent result of last week. Consolidated demand from China as the Chinese New Year approaches and pushes three weeks of selling into two. Good widespread competition across most micron categories, however 16 micron struggled this week due to a lack of demand. Signals are currently positive coming out of China and Europe as we approach an excellent offering of superfine wool next week. Certified wool is continuing to attract keen attention from buyers and the lower end of the market improves as buyers look for value. Processed wool market is also very keen, showing that China, Japan, Korea and a lesser degree Europe are showing improved demand.

Forecast
Week 33 is a designated superfine wool sale, which usually excites the market as it is the last opportunity to purchase high quality fine wool between now and Sept 2026. Early signs are for a positive market with all sectors active. Certified wool will be keenly sought as buyers try to secure some volume. Week 34 will be a recess due to Chinese New Year and this should help steady the market over the 3-week period.
