AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT
Comment
Prices have consolidated slightly below the levels achieved after last week’s very positive sentiment. Most expected a weaker market, but it performed better than most expectations. Traders are still concerned about limited demand at these levels but the volatility will create more opportunities. The best fine wool is no doubt attracting strong interest from Italian sector, who are cautious with regards to the dwindling supply year on year. Higher prices for the superior fine wools is necessary for that sector.

Forecast
As indicated in last week’s commentary, the volatility seen in week 21 was unsustainable. It was good to see this relatively stable market at the higher basis and good wool being rewarded over the more inferior clips. There are clearly good premiums for the best style, best specification wools and in particular, those clips who belong to a standard, like RWS and Authentico.
