Quality is the key to achieving the rewards for certified wool this week. We saw several clips of poor preparation passed in this week as buyers are selective in their search for high quality certified wools. Premium prices require attention to detail and excellent preparation to meet the strict requirements of the International market. Overall market stayed in positive territory with all sectors active. Surprisingly the strength is coming from Chinese interests, closely followed by European and Indian buyers all trying to secure volume of high quality fine wool in the last 3 designated superfine wool offerings for the season. Not even a volatile currency or larger than expected volume has dampened this enthusiasm. It was nice to see confidence in the market despite all of the associated problems that has affected the flow of wool onto the market in recent months. Supply is dictating the market activity, particularly in the high quality fine wool at this time of the season. Overlength, tensile strength and mid breaks are playing their role as buyers compete aggressively for the best lots available.

As mentioned in the comments above we are heading into 3 large designated superfine wool sales which some growers have been holding wool waiting for their opportunity to present to the market their best bales. Demand is keen for high quality fine wool in the coming weeks and months and buyers have shown their keenness to purchase wools of high quality. The Chinese indent buyers are still acquiring volume daily/weekly and meeting the demands of the market in terms of price which is encouraging.
