Comment

South Island only offering 6,700 bales.  The selection consisted of 25% crossbred ewe fleece 34.0-38.0 micron mainly better colour, 100/150mm, 15% crossbred hogget fleece 31.0-34.0 micron good colour 75/125mm, 6% crossbred second shear good colour 75mm plus, 8% crossbred lambs bulk average colour 30.0-32.0 micron 75mm, 17% halfbred fleece wool 23.0-30.0 micron super style, 12% merino fleece and oddments mainly super style, 15% associated oddments and 2% miscellaneous types.  Widespread competition with most sectors operating.  Europe and Indian sub continent main with support from the United Kingdom, local carpet mills and China.

Good colour hogget and ewe fleece sellers favour.

Poorer style fleece firm.

Halfbred fleece unchanged.

Merino fleece generally 5% cheaper.

Second Shears

Good colour crossbred second shear sellers favour.

Poorer style second shear firm.

Oddments

Crossbred oddments all descriptions firm.
