South Island only offering 6,500 bales.
Selection consisted of 63% crossbred, halfbred and merino fleece including hogget fleeces mostly good colour, 7% crossbred second shears good colour, 50/100mm, 3% crossbred lambs good/average colour, 24% associated oddments all descriptions good/average colour and 3% miscellaneous types.
Very strong demand on a wide selection. The general lack of quantity for any specific types pushed prices up resulting in good premiums being offered on all types types including the shears. Main buyers were Europe with support from the United Kingdom, local Australasian mills and China.
Fleece
Crossbred fleece up to 6% dearer.
Halfbred fleece up to 10% dearer.
Merino fleece up to 5% dearer.
Shears
Good colour crossbred shears 4% dearer.
Average colour 1.5% dearer.
Lambs
Good colour 3% cheaper.
Oddments
Carding oddments 2.5% dearer.
Combing oddments 3.5% dearer.
