Summary

Market generally firm, tending dearer with the exception of poorer colour wools.

Comment

South Island only offering 10,350 bales.  The selection consisted of 47% ewe fleece mainly average colour, 75/150mm with a limited selection of good colour fleece, 8% crossbred second shear good colour, 75mm +/-, 4% crossbred hogget fleece,10% lambs, generally good colour, 6% merino fleece, 3% halfbred fleece, 18% associated oddments and 4% miscellaneous types.  Main competition Indian sub-continent and China, with good support from Europe, the United Kingdom and local carpet mills.

Fleece

Good colour crossbred ewe/hogget fleece fully firm.

Poorer style crossbred fleece up to 2% cheaper.

Shears

Good colour crossbred shears fully firm.

Poorer colour crossbred shears firm to buyers favour.

Lambs

Good colour lambs 5% dearer, with finer lambs up to 10% dearer.

Oddments

Carding oddments fully firm tending sellers favour.

Passings

20% passed in.
