RWS, RMS, RAS

Responsible Animal Fibers (RAF) is a family of voluntary certification standards promoting animal welfare, environmental sustainability, and responsible fibre production. It includes the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS), Responsible Mohair Standard (RMS), and Responsible Alpaca Standard (RAS). These standards ensure that sheep, goats, and alpacas are treated according to the internationally recognised Five Freedoms for animal welfare. They also require responsible land management practices to protect the environment. Across the supply chain, certified fibres are identified and fully traceable from farm to final product through a robust chain of custody. RAF standards provide brands and consumers with confidence that animal fibres are sourced ethically, responsibly, and transparently.

GOTS

**The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)** is an internationally recognised standard that certifies organic textiles throughout the entire supply chain, from the harvesting of raw materials to the finished product. It ensures that textile production meets strict environmental and social criteria while maintaining the organic integrity of the fibres. Introduced in 2006, GOTS has become the leading global certification for organic textiles thanks to growing demand from manufacturers, retailers, and consumers. It provides a single certification accepted across major international markets, simplifying global trade. The GOTS logo and labelling system help consumers easily identify certified products and reinforce confidence in their authenticity, sustainability, and quality.

ZDHC

Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) is a global initiative that promotes the safe and responsible use of chemicals across the textile supply chain. In the wool industry, it applies to processes such as scouring, dyeing, and finishing, helping to reduce environmental impact. ZDHC provides the Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (MRSL), which defines chemicals that must not be intentionally used in production, and promotes responsible chemical management and wastewater monitoring. Although it is not a product certification, it is widely recognised by leading textile brands. The Schneider Group have achieved ZDHC Supplier to Zero – Level 1, demonstrating our commitment to continuous improvement in chemical management and sustainability.
