NEW ZEALAND MARKET REPORT
Summary
Market mixed.
Comment
Combined sale. South Island offering 5,230 bales. North Island offering 3,530 bales.
Selection consisted of 12% crossbred fleece mostly good colour, 28% hogget fleece, good colour, 14% crossbred second shear 50/100mm, 7% crossbred lambs, good/poor colour, 5% halfbred, 8% merino, 25% associated oddments all descriptions and 1% miscellaneous types.
Crossbreds including hoggets, despite a limited supply showed a market correction with a move back to buyers favour across the day. Only poor style oddments went against the trend and posted a favourable lift. Merino and finer halfbreds posted gains compared to the previous New Zealand auction and were in line with Australian levels. Main buyers were Europe, China and the United Kingdom with support from local Australasian mills.
